My friend Leah is due with sweet little McKenna about four weeks after me, so we had a baby shower for her on Saturday night at Brio. I didn't take any pictures at the shower, but we had a great time loading her up with gifts. I made a bunch of different things and need to scour the iPhone to see if I took any pictures. My embroidery machine has definitely been doing double-time lately between monogramming for Brooks and for all my friends who are also expecting.
On Sunday morning, we had a brunch at our house for all our relatives who were in from out of town. Most of them had never been to our new house, so it was a lot of fun to show them around and also show off Brooks' nursery. I somehow managed to finish it up completely (with a lot of help from Claybo) before the brunch. I am so pleased with the result and promise to have pictures up really really soon!
Sunday afternoon was my baby shower. My "girls" (yes, that's how we refer to each other - Leah, Jessica, Rachel, and Jaime) threw the shower at Jaime's house. Poor Jaime was sick with a serious fever, so she stayed upstairs during the shower to keep from infecting any of us pregnant women, but was able to come down at the end for a couple of pictures. We got so much great stuff for Brooks and can't thank everyone enough for their thoughtfulness. Also, another big thanks to the girls for throwing the shower. I know showers are a lot of work, and I love you girls for wanting to do that for us! Now for the picture montage!! Real quick - let me point out that I am wearing glasses because I was also battling a nasty eye infection that has finally cleared up! It did not make me happy to have them on, but they were necessary to read cards and actually see was I was unwrapping.
All the gifts!
A quilt that my Granny made out of blue jeans - one of the squares is a patch from my PaPa's overalls. Needless to say, when she told me, I started to squall!
Playing the "guess how big around" game. Ashley's string was big enough to go around me twice! I love my facial expression and everyone laughing.
Julie won! Her string was PERFECT! The ends literally met up at my belly button. She did have a slight advantage since she's due on the same day!!!
With my mom, aka Nee - pronounced like the sound a horse makes. Her name is Renee and all my cousins always called her Aunt Nee, so we decided to stick with it!
All hands on deck!
Of course we had to get one with Leah too!!
Thanks again to the girls for a fabulous shower and to all our family members for taking time to come to Birmingham.
