afghan complete....

I finished the afghan over the weekend. Here she is....

It's really hard to photograph that thing...but I'm really happy with the end-result. Don't know who I'm going to give it to. I guess the first person to have a girl wins. Or maybe I'll save it for myself for down the road. For those of you who read too much into things...I mean nothing by that except, maybe I'll save it for DOWN THE ROAD! :)

We made it through Monday everyone....ready for Friday and a three-day weekend!

Jack Jack's First Birthday!

Our nephew, Jack, turned one this weekend! We had so much fun at his water themed birthday party. It's hard to believe it's already been a year since he was born....amazing how time flies. Scary to think that it will go even faster when it's our own child!! Here are a few pictures from the birthday celebration!

With Auntie Em....please ignore the major cheese grin on my face!

All this for me?!?!

Destin Beach Trip

We had a fabulous time in Destin with Julie/Nick and Kiley/Mark. As you will be able to tell by the pictures, we all really enjoyed ourselves and definitely didn't want to come home! The boys golfed, the girls shopped, and we all enjoyed the sunshine and some much needed R&R. Hope you enjoy our photos (with my commentary, of course!)!!!!

The Day has Finally Arrived!!!

DESTIN HERE I COME!!!! We are out of here in less than 4 hours!!! Can I tell you AGAIN how excited I am???

First off, here's the skirt I was talking about yesterday. I found this fabric at Joann's and thought it would be the perfect Auburn gameday fabric. So I decided to make a skirt out of it....

The pictures aren't great, and I look like a cow in them....but I love the skirt! I already have some fabric to make a few more.

And here's the haircut. Again, it's hard to take a picture of yourself from a camera phone sitting in your office. Not to mention I'm not fond of photos of myself alone....I look like a dork, but at least you can see the haircut! I love it. I wish I had a picture of the back. It's layered and excatly what I wanted. It's a little shorter than I was planning, but I'm really happy with it. It's so much lighter and my hair feels so much better. All that nasty mop is gone!

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend. I'll have pictures from the beach next week!

Purple with Ruflles!!

Welcome to another installment of "Flowers from My Mother," the purple edition!

I'm getting my haircut tomorrow and I can't wait. This long nasty mop is driving me crazy!

Also hope to have a new skirt creation to show off tomorrow!

A Case of the Mondays....

I have a case of the Mondays and needed this flower today. Now I'm passing it along to you in case you are having a case of the Mondays also! This was my mom's daylilly of the day yesterday. I love the ruffles around the edges!!

Another baby afghan

Ever since I finished the baby afghan I made for Mary Clark, I've been looking forward to starting a new one. Last weekend, I decided to pick up a plastic crochet needle so that I could work on a new afghan while I was flying. I already had some cute yarn at home, so I dug through the closets and pulled it out!!! This is where I'm at so far.....

The picture isn't fabulous, but what do you expect.....I'm on the road!!! :) I'm pretty happy with how it has turned out so far. I love the colors of this yarn and it is soooo soft! The yarn isn't quite as thick as the yarn for Mary Clark's blanket, but I think it's going to be the perfect cuddle blanky for some child. I haven't decided whether to give it as a gift or hang on to it for later....we'll see.

Hope you all had a great weekend! I made it to Sunday and I'm flying home at the crack of dawn tomorrow. I've never been so excited about having to get up early! Let the countdown to Destin begin.....3 days!!!

Flowers from Mom...

My mom has the most beautiful daylillies. I remember her having them when I was younger, but let's be honest, I never did truly appreciate them!! Last year, my mom starting texting me pictures of her daylillies. The first time she sent them to me the message said, "Flowers for my working girl." I was on the road somewhere and it made my day. I don't have the pictures from last summer, but last week she started sending me pictures of this summer's daylillies.

I am still just amazed at how gorgeous they are. I don't remember her having these colors when I was little, but I'm glad she has them now so that she can share when we get a house!! Then we'll just have to cross our fingers that I at least got a little bit of her "green thumb."

Catch Up

In the craziness that has been the last few weeks, I completely missed a really important blogging opportunity a few weeks ago! My sweet and patient husband was able to score himself a spot in the Regions Charity Classic Pro-Am back in mid-May. I petitioned hard for him to get into an open spot should they have any and at the last minute a guy dropped out of a group of some guys I work with. Clay was ecstatic to say the least! The pro for his group was Dan Forsman, the eventual winner of the tournament!!! I was pretty busy the day that he was playing, but was able to slip out for a little while that afternoon to watch Clay's group play a few holes. From what I understand, he was playing great until I showed up and made him nervous! :) I'm so glad that he was able to have this opportunity. He puts up with a lot because of my job, so I'm glad he got to have a little fun and visit with me while I worked! I love you Claybo, and we'll keep our fingers crossed for another open spot next year!

He had to stop by Nick's office on his way to the course and Nick snapped this photo!

Teeing up!

Doesn't he look like a pro?

I think he said his tee shot wasn't great, but at least he didn't pull a Barkley and hit someone in the neck! :)

He even had a small gallery! Kurt, Meg and Jack came out to watch him. Thanks to Meg for all the photos!

Blog Rennovation....

I think I'm about to do a little rennovation on the ole blog. It feels like time for a change...and since I'm in Des Moines with not that much to do, now seems like as good a time as ever. Let me know what you think when it's finished!

Happy Friday to all you luckies out there who don't have to work all weekend. I know you aren't, but I'M SO READY FOR SUNDAY!!!! :)

Greetings from Des Moines

Greetings from Iowa and the Principal Charity Classic. I'm here in Des Moines rounding out the first blast of golf events for the spring/summer. I got here about 4:30 yesterday afternoon and will leave early on Monday morning. I can't wait to get home. #1, just because I miss home, but #2 because we are headed to the beach next Wednesday night. My friend Julie's parents have a house in Destin and we are going down to have a mini-vacation with Julie & Nick and Kiley & Mark. Kiley is Julie's college roomate, and we have gotten to be friends over the years, so I'm looking forward to a fun couples' getaway! Julie and I have joked about how biggest concerns during those couple of days will be deciding what time to head in from the pool and figuring out what is for dinner!!! Seriously can't wait!!!

We had a nice relaxing Memorial Day weekend in Birmingham. Between my work and the wedding last weekend, I haven't really had a free weekend in a while. I worked on a few projects (pictures later....not quite finished with them), Clay played golf, I shopped at Joann's with Julie, we bowled with Kurt, Meg, and Jack, and we napped. I can't think of a better way to spend a three-day weekend! Hope everyone had a great long-weekend too!
