Updates

Nothing too major going on on the baby front. I continue to be lucky and feel pretty well short of a little tiredness. I start my second trimester tomorrow (so hard to believe I'm 1/3 of the way through the pregnancy), so I'm hoping that the tiredness will start to pass as so many have told me. I've been really lucky so far, so let's all keep our fingers crossed that it continues!

I'm really not sure about how much weight I've gained, but I know my doctor will let me know when I go next week for a checkup. I've definitely sprouted a little belly and even though my pants still fit (with the help of the Belly Band), I'm starting to feel a little uncomfortable. Plenty of women have informed me that this is "just the beginning." Obviously, I am aware of this, but seeing as this is my first child, I think I'm allowed to think that I am allowed to feel a little "strange" with all these changes to my body.

We are headed to the Gulf Shores on Thursday night for a long 4th of July weekend with Clay's family. Brad and Amy get a condo every summer for about a week and invite us all down to spend time together. We always have a great time and I am looking forward to a fun long-weekend with everyone with no worries!

On Monday, we are going to swing through Atmore and have lunch with my parents and grandparents. We haven't seen them since telling them about the baby, so I'm really looking forward to seeing them and showing off my little baby bump!

I have some fun new monogramming pictures to post next week after the beach, but they have to wait because I can't risk the lucky recipients of my cute ideas reading my post!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July! I'll be back next week with updates about the beach and Tuesday's doctors appointment.

Dr's Appointment

I have been informed that I haven't posted about the dr's appointment yet....please forgive me!

Everything went great. It was a very quick appointment. The nurse found a good heartbeat (172 beats per minute) and we spoke with the doctor for a few minutes. She let us go ahead and make our ultrasound appointment when we'll find out the sex of the baby. That will be August 3rd at 8:30! I can't wait....then the sewing, crafting and monogramming can begin! I have another appointment between now and then, but it is just a quick checkup on July 5th.

Just wanted to let everyone know what was going on!!

Happy Thursday! One more day.....I think I can, I think I can!

Dr's Appointment Tomorrow!!

Tomorrow we have our second doctor's appointment to check in on little fetus Branch. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and the babe is about the size of a lime! I'm so excited for tomorrow's appointment because I'm pretty sure we are going to get to hear the heartbeat. We better get to hear the heartbeat! :) I'm just ready for some concrete evidence that there's something in my belly. I mean, I know there is something there with all the crazy stuff going on with my body, but I just want to hear the heartbeat or see something! Plus, I'm jealous of a certain couple who already has a picture! :)

Speaking of that certain couple, another of oldest and dearest friends is Julie Corman Baggett. I've known Julie since before I was old enough to remember. There is a picture of the two of us around age 5 or 6 in little red leotards getting ready to preform in "Oklahoma." We were friends all through high school and lost touch a little while we were in college, but reconnected when I moved to Birmingham to do my internship. When I moved back for good, we basically just picked up where we left off. Our husbands are big golfing buddies now and I even knew she was getting engaged before she did! (We did good Nick!) Anyway, I consider her as close to a sister as one can be. They came over to help us move into the new house (on her birthday....now that's a good friend!) and we told them that we were expecting. They were so shocked and I'll never forget the look on Julie's face when I told her my due date. Fast forward 2 weeks and they came over for Memorial Day to each lunch with us. We are sitting at the table eating lunch when Nick dropped the bomb that they too were expecting a little Baggett Baby! I wish there had been a video of my reaction...not only to that news, but to the news that we are DUE ON THE SAME DAY!!!! I mean, what are the chances?!?!? I am so excited to have someone to share this crazy journey and to talk to when there are crazy things going on with my body that husbands just don't understand. This is where my jealousy comes from....because they already have a picture! :) But seriously, I'm so excited to have our babies at the same time so they can grow up together and be best little friends!!

Hopefully I won't have anything too exciting to share tomorrow (other than that we heard the heartbeat and maybe have a picture). For some reason I have this fear that I'm having twins. And I really shouldn't call it a fear...I'd really be okay with it...but I swear twins pop up everywhere I go. Clay thinks it would be great to have a "built in playmate." No idea why....Clay has twins in his family, but they are a couple of generations back, and I have no twins in my family. I guess we'll know for sure tomorrow! :)

Happy Tuesday!

Weekend

Despite the heat, I spent a little time in our yard yesterday working on boosting the "curb appeal." We have a nice size front yard, but most of it is trees and shrubs, so there not a ton of grass. I spotted a little patch near the street that would be good for planting some plants. I went over to Sweet Peas in Homewood and picked up some goods.

This was the patch before

After

I'm happy with the result of my little planting, but I'm ready for them to grow and fill in the spaces. Maybe I should have planted Impatients!

Why I'm a Crappy Blogger

Why I'm a Crappy Blogger

i. Because I'm really busy at work and I don't have time to post
ii. Because I'm preggers and so tired by the time I leave work that I do nothing but eat and sleep when I get home (seriously....ask Clay)
iii. Because other than the new house (new post soon I promise...I really do), there's not really that much going on

So those are my top three reasons why I'm a crappy blogger, but I swear I want to change my bad blogging ways. No seriously, I really do. I have all these blogs lined up {in my mind}. Pictures of the new house, projects I've been working on, fun ideas for the nursery, furniture I've already purchased for the nursery.

Speaking of the nursery and point number ii {see above}, we are pregnant! I took a pregnancy test the week of Easter and got a positive result. I then had to wait until May 11th to see the doctor. Talk about a long wait when you have no idea what you are doing and your body is acting seriously crazy. Not to mention that one of those waiting weeks was the Regions Tradition and I was (a) working crazy long hours and (b) was sick as a dog. Anyway, so far all is good and I am 10 weeks and 1 day along. Baby Branch is due on December 28th, so we are looking forward to an extremely exciting Christmas Season!!

Blogging catchup:
Congrats to one of my oldest and dearest friends, Sarah Moore. She got engaged about 2 weeks ago to Rob Lee....yes, she's going to be Sarah Lee!! I'm so happy for her and can't wait for the wedding on October 22nd. She has asked me to be an honorary bridesmaid, and I am so excited! I'll be a whale by then, but she said she'd still have me.

Okay - I think that's all I've got for today. I promise, more blogging!!
