I'm a girl....hopefully most of you already know this. :) I'm a girl who loves football, especially Auburn football. In fact, as I type, I'm sitting here rolling my eyes at the "skinny ties" on ESPN as they unveil and discuss this week's BCS top 10. I've always wanted to have a weekly "girl prospective" on some football blog. I probably wouldn't have enough to say every week...but this week I have plenty to say, so I'm going to have my own "girl prospective" on my own blog!!!
This was a huge weekend if you are an Auburn Tiger. The last week and a half has been awful as we've had to listen to sports radio and tv talk about the allegations surrounding Cam Newton. I'll get back to that in a second, but we also had a huge game on Saturday versus Georgia, our biggest out of state rivalry. Lots of people seemed to get lost in the "scandal" and forgot about the game. Not me....I wanted to vomit all week worrying about the game. I wanted those seniors to beat a team they had never beaten, I wanted those boys to remain undefeated. And why did I want that?? I love this team. I love the players, the coaches. I just stinking love them (okay...you get it, I love them)!! Now, back to Cam....we all love him! And that is why we are standing by him throughout all this CRAP. I'm so sick of hearing other fans say crap like, "you know he did it." No we don't! Very very few people know what really happened, and it's highly unlikely that the random fan knows what happened....SO, until I know the absolute truth, I'm standing by that Auburn player. And like most Auburn fans, I'll defend him to the death. That's what you do with family....you defend them. I can talk about my brother, but I dare you to talk about him. Cause I'll pop you in the face!!
Now, back to the game. I'll start off with HOLY MOLY....what a crazy game. I was lucky enough to be given a ticket to the game by my Aunt Mel. She lives in Dallas and also loves Auburn football. She wasn't able to come to the game and wanted me to be able to enjoy it. So, Clay and I had one ticket. We were fighting over who was going to the game. I wanted him to go, he wanted me to go. Well, turns out that we were both able to go. My Aunt Bobbie (who shares two tickets with Mel) was overly kind, and gave us her ticket so that we could go together. I kinda want to cry typing about it because Clay and I had so much fun together. I know that I would have had fun with Bobbie...but for me, there's just not much better than enjoying something as exciting as last night's game with my hubs!
So anyway, the game was great. The Tigers fought hard and came back from a two touchdown deficit to put a licking on Georgia. Now, to my major issue with some comments since the game. First off....let me remind some fools out there that this IS FOOTBALL. People get hit in football. Now, I'm not saying that all the hits were clean. I'm not saying that Nick Fairley didn't have a late hit on their quarterback. BUT let's get real, you think your team has never done that??? I'm so sick of all the comments that Auburn plays dirty and that all our players are thugs...are you kidding me? It makes me want to vomit. It was an intense game, there were bad plays, bad calls, but it happens to every team when playing rivalry game. GET OVER IT. In case you can't tell, I'm fired up. And not just at Georgia fans...there were fans from plenty of other schools making comments and I'm ticked off about it. We don't play dirty...we play physical...so either deal with it, or get out of the way. Cause we'll run you over...and if I don't pop you in face, I'll send Nick Fairley to run you over.
A special thanks to Mary Kay letting us stay with her this weekend. We had a blast, and look forward to another stay at her "inn." Again, a huge thanks to Mel and Bobbie for the tickets. Love you guys.
Now, I must resume watching the replay of the game with Clay. I just saw Chizik call Eric Smith a dumbass for talking smack and getting a penalty on that first touchdown. I really do love that man.
